ASJA Announces 2024 and 2025 Conference Dates
We heard you loud and clear: ASJA members can’t wait to get back to a full in-person conference in New York City.
We heard this loud and clear too: ASJA’s virtual conferences are more accessible and affordable for members, and they attract potential members.
With that in mind, I am pleased to announce the dates for both the 2024 and 2025 ASJA national conferences:
September 24-26, 2024: Virtual conference with Client Connections
February 24-26, 2025: In-person conference in New York City (Manhattan) with Client Connections
With these two conferences, ASJA will provide our members and other freelance writers the best of both worlds: the excitement and camaraderie of meeting in person, and the affordability, convenience, and inclusivity of a virtual gathering.
Professional members who attend either one or both of these conferences get a chance to participate in ASJA’s signature Client Connections networking event, affectionately known as “speed dating for editors and writers.”
ASJA will offer special packages and pricing for writers who opt to attend both events.
Conference Programming
The conference planning committee is already developing compelling programming for both conferences. The fall 2024 virtual conference will emphasize national markets and content that lends itself to a screen-based format. We’ll have the same informal Snack Chats and networking opportunities featured in past virtual conferences, including an online version of Client Connections.
The 2025 in-person conference in New York City will maximize that face-to-face time we know ASJA members and other writers value. The New York conference will feature how-to sessions, panels with outlets that assign work to freelancers, intensive hands-on workshops and masterminds for writers at all stages of their careers, compelling keynotes, networking lunches, field trips, and more!
Volunteers Needed
The conference planning committee and Client Connections committee are still in need of volunteers for a variety of roles. If you are an ASJA member and are interested in working on the 2024 virtual conference, 2025 in-person conference, or Client Connections at either event, log into the members-only section of the website, go to the Volunteer Opportunities page, and fill out the “ASJA Call for Volunteers” form. An ASJA volunteer coordinator will follow up via email.
We want as many members as possible to take advantage of these two important career-building, confidence-boosting, market-extending events. Both are designed to meet the needs of writers who are new to freelancing as well as established independent journalists, nonfiction authors, and content writers.
