Journalist and author JoBeth McDaniel has been a writer in residence at Dorland Mountain Arts Colony in California and Write On Door County in Wisconsin. She serves as chair of ASJA’s First Amendment Committee
Paula Carter is the author of No Relation. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, Kenyon Review, The Southern Review, Prairie Schooner, Creative Nonfiction, and elsewhere. Based in Chicago, she is a part of the live lit community and is a company member with the storytelling group 2nd Story. She teaches creative nonfiction at Northwestern University.
Since 1989, Sheila Gulley Pleasants has managed the scheduling of over four hundred writers, visual artists, and composers each year at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA), an artist community with locations in Virginia and in southwest France. She also administers VCCA’s international exchange programs with artist communities in Austria, Germany, and Ireland. VCCA provides time and space for national and international writers, visual artists, and composers to pursue their creative work.
